We are seeking an equity research analyst to join our forensic accounting team and cover U.S. and European listed public companies in the technology sector.
The analyst will conduct and publish forensic accounting focused research on specific companies and sub-industries for dissemination to institutional investor clients. The research will be a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, including rigorous financial statement analysis and interpretation of company-specific and sector-specific data. The analyst will also respond to ad hoc client inquiries and communicate research findings and views regularly both virtually and in-person.

This is a remote role. CFRA maintains workspace in Washington, DC.

Reporting To

Key Responsibilities

  • Rigorous analysis of U.S. technology public company financial data, news, and other information to identify the varied risks facing companies.
  • Publish high-impact reports to be delivered to investment managers, hedge funds, and other clients detailing our research findings.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding company analysis, industry trends, and accounting topics of interest.
  • Collaborate with members of the U.S. and European and industry-specific sector teams.
  • Perform ad hoc research for clients, as requested.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4+ years plus experience in finance, auditing, or accounting with a focus on researching and analyzing companies.
  • Strong background in financial statement analysis and knowledge of financial markets.
  • Understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles.
  • Forensic accounting mindset with skeptical approach to reviewing financial statements.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, including an ability to synthesize complex financial data into clear, objective analysis and concisely discuss analysis in a face-to-face environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote and team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for client meetings and internal events.
  • Experience with financial data platforms a plus: Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Alphasense, etc.
  • At least one of the following credentials a plus: CPA, CFA, MBA.
